Texture Coating
Character, depth and a very forgiving surface
What it is
Texture coating is the finish layer that gives a wall its character. Rather than a flat plane, the surface carries a deliberate profile — anything from a barely-there fine sand through to a coarse, heavily worked render finish that throws real shadow across the elevation.
There is a practical argument for it as well as an aesthetic one. A textured surface scatters light, and scattered light hides minor undulation, patching and substrate variation that a dead-flat finish would show up in the afternoon sun. On an older wall or a mixed substrate, texture is often the pragmatic choice.
Why it's worth it
Minor undulation, old patch repairs and substrate variation disappear into the profile rather than being highlighted.
A textured elevation changes through the day as the light moves across it — flat walls simply don't do this.
Texture coats build a heavier film than paint, adding a genuine protective layer over the substrate.
Membrane texture systems bridge fine hairline cracks and keep bridging them as the wall moves.
Fine sand, sponge float, roll-on, trowelled, dry dash and custom profiles — all from a compatible base.
A textured facade can be re-coated down the track without stripping back to the substrate.
Our process
We show you sample boards in the actual finish and colour so you're choosing from something real, not a photo on a screen.
The substrate is cleaned, repaired where needed and primed with a sealer compatible with the chosen texture system.
The texture coat is applied and worked wet-edge across each full elevation, so there are no visible start-stop lines mid-wall.
A tinted membrane or protective top coat seals the texture, locks in the colour and provides the UV and weather resistance.

No. Paint is a thin film that colours a surface. A texture coat is a much thicker, aggregate-loaded coating that creates a physical profile and adds a protective layer — closer to a thin render than to paint.
